Short answer...yes.
However the cost makes it impractical for most needing less than 300 gallons of WVO fuel per week.
Recently there has been a revived interest in using centrifugal filters designed to clean crankcase oil to remove water and particulate contamination from wvo. This was mainly sparked by the availability of a cheaper (made in India) centrifugal filter in North America. These are branded as "Diesel-Craft" centrifugal filters in the US and the indications are that with multiple passes they CAN remove enough suspended water and particulate contaminants to produce safe wvo fuel.

Cost is significantly lower than a true centrifuge..as is maximum throughput. A basic list of the components of a "Deisel-Craft" WVO processors is follows.
Parts List
1 Diesel-craft OC-20 centrifuge from http://www.dieselcraft.com $220 (now $299 with relief and guage and tees)
Pump/motor:

8ft Length of ¾” or bigger hi-temp hose to attach to input of PS pump
1 -24” x 1.25” steel pipe (for heating element) ~$5
1 -4500KW 240v water heater heating element (at 110v = 1125W) ~$8
1 -1.25” steel T (use 2 tees if you’re putting 2 heating elements in) ~$4
1 -8” x 1/2” steel tube to attach to centrifuge input ~$4
1 Reducer to attach CF 1/2" to 1.25” ~$5
1 Reducer to attach PS output to 1.25” input ~$10
Plumbing fittings to attach to the bottom of the barrel to flow to the input of the PS pump ~$15
1 Pressure Gauge (grainger #5WZ34, $8.58) ~$9
1/16" thick by 1.25" ID metal washer first on the element, then a 1.5" ID washer with a 1/8" x 1.25" O-ring inside (to seal the heating element)
In addition one needs a few misc. parts like 55 gallon drums, lids, etc.
Total cost is around $700.

One of my suppliers uses "Premium Canola Liquid Fry Shortening" ingredients listed are "partially hydrogenated Canola oil,TBHQ, and Dimethylpolysiloxane"
When I cold sock filter (60 degrees), there is a thick bacon grease like residue. Is this an oil I should be using?

Sure...as long as your conversion is designed to use high fat or partially hydrogenated wvo. Some are not. I would need more info on your conversion (kit?) to provide a more useful response.
